In response to the recent Los Angeles fire disaster, DCW is pivoting its offerings to better serve our community by providing our Filmmakers Workshop free of charge. This initiative aims to create a space where local artists can connect, collaborate, and heal through the art of dance and filmmaking. By removing financial barriers, we hope to foster growth, creativity, and meaningful connections during this challenging time.

The workshop, spanning five days, will now accommodate both full-time participants and drop-in students. This flexibility ensures that local artists, even those with limited availability, can benefit from this unique learning and creative opportunity.

Each day of the workshop is divided into two segments:

  1. First Session: Open to all participants, including drop-in students, this segment features daily filmmaking lessons and hands-on exercises led by experienced DCW mentors.

  2. Second Session: Reserved for the core group of filmmakers committed to creating a collaborative film throughout the workshop. This session focuses on the practical application of lessons in an ongoing project environment.

DCW is proud to offer the necessary resources for this program, including studio space, professional equipment, mentorship, and talented dancers, all designed to create a supportive and inspiring atmosphere.

This workshop aligns with DCW's mission to create equitable opportunities for filmmakers through our Visibility Program, emphasizing inclusivity and community engagement.
