Welcome
to the Third Annual Dance Camera West Festival!
June
426 Los Angeles
As the first festival dedicated to dance film in a city that
has played such an important role in the history of dance
and film, DCW is well on its way to becoming a vital part
of the Los Angeles cultural landscape. Our first two years
brought the vibrant art form of dance film from around the
world to packed houses throughout Los Angeles. For 2004 we
continue to pitch our tent all over town to provide an inspired
collection of what is going on in the field today.
This year viewers can watch the latest examples of international
dance film in the REDCAT theater at the new Walt Disney Concert
Hall, experience the glamour of the greatest classic dance
film of all time, The Red Shoes under the stars at the FORD
AMPHITHEATRE, or take a walk and see dance film screened on
alternative surfaces within the outdoor environment at TreePeople
in Coldwater Canyon Park. Youll get the most exercise
with Dances of Ecstasy, a trance dance, rave inspired film
screening followed by superstar DJs taking you into the dance.
A two day documentary series at UCLA Hammer Museum and the
EZTV Viewing Library featuring this years entries round
out the month long festival.
Over our relatively short but distinguished existence DCW
has been honored to contribute to the growth of dance film
in Southern California. With your ongoing enthusiastic support
we can continue to produce this innovative festival as well
as another acclaimed Dance for Camera DVD. If you would like
to become more involved with DCW please visit our website
